Change Intelligence
Large Load Queue Changes
The interconnection queue is not static. Projects enter, withdraw, change status, and progress through studies. These changes directly affect time-to-power for data center developments. Tracking what changed — and why it matters — is the core of the Speed-to-Power Watchlist.
Why queue changes matter for siting decisions
A market that looked favorable last month may have worsened if a large generation project withdrew, a transmission upgrade was delayed, or 20 new large-load projects entered the same zone. Change intelligence turns a static snapshot into a living shortlist that adapts as evidence evolves.
Change signals are derived from queue diff analysis. They indicate what changed, not whether the change guarantees a specific outcome. Screening-grade decision support.
Types of queue changes we track
New project entered queue
Increases queue depth and may extend study timelines for existing projects in the same zone.
Severity: info
Project withdrawn
May free queue capacity and improve timing for remaining projects. Also may indicate systemic process issues.
Severity: material
Status changed
Study phase progression or regression directly affects energization timeline estimates.
Severity: material
Projected in-service date changed
The most direct signal of energization timeline changes. May indicate delays or accelerations.
Severity: material
Study document posted
New feasibility, system impact, or facilities study results can change the cost and timeline outlook.
Severity: watch
Capacity changed
MW changes may affect transmission upgrade requirements and interconnection costs.
Severity: watch
Transmission owner changed
Reassignment to a different utility may change process timelines and requirements.

Public vs paid change data
This page shows the types of changes we track and their significance. Full change history, affected queue entries, severity ratings, and recommended actions (advance / monitor / downgrade / avoid / needs utility diligence) are available in the Speed-to-Power Watchlist.
